The Growing Importance of Multimodal Transportation Networks

For decades, transportation systems were largely designed around a single objective: moving vehicles efficiently from one destination to another. Successful multimodal projects require balancing technical requirements with community needs and long-term mobility goals. Engineers help ensure that these systems are not only functional, but also practical, safe, and responsive to the communities they serve.

As communities continue to grow and mobility needs become more complex, multimodal transportation networks provide a framework for creating transportation systems that serve a wider range of users.
