CKL delivers its services and assets to CDOT through the Chicago Neighborhood Engineering and Construction Team, or C*NECT, created as a joint venture between Civiltech Engineering, Inc. (CEI) and Infrastructure Engineering, Inc. (IEI). We are responsible for providing Phase II and Phase III engineering services citywide.

CKL provided Phase III Engineering Services for the construction inspection of two bridge reconstruction projects on Adams St and Jackson Blvd over I-90/94, as well as the widening of I-90/94 itself.
The work included the removal of the existing bridges, the construction of two new bridges, installation of new exit and
entrance ramps, and more. CKL's tasks included maintenance of traffic inspection, daily activity reports, and inspection of daily construction, which helped ensure all work was up to Illinois standards and specifications.

CKL provided construction inspection services for the improvement of US 41, from IL 120 to Park Ave West. This resurfacing improvement includes, but not limited to, pavement patching, hot-mix asphalt surface removal, combination concrete curb and gutter removal and replacement, and more.

CKL provided Phase III Engineering services for the reconstruction of traffic and bike lanes along Damen, Fullerton and Elston roadways. The project included the widening of Damen Avenue for the construction of improved bike accommodations, widening of the north sidewalk along Fullerton and the resurfacing of all streets within the project limits. The work that was done included sanitary and storm sewer installation and repairs as required, water main installation, placement of asphalt and PCC pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk installation, tree planting and CDOT database management.

CKL provided CE&I for I-55 (Stevenson Expressway), I-94 (Dan Ryan Expressway), and Lake Shore Drive. The project included the removal of the existing bridges and installation of three new bridge structures with a project length of 1.1 miles. Tasks included structural steel bridge on-site design changes, inspection of girder installation, bearing plates, snug tightening and final tightening of bolts and nuts, bridge deck forms, reinforcement, and concrete deck pours.

CKL provided documentation support as a subcontractor of HDR on the southern U.S. 41 extension. This was our first project of this scale, creating new transit and biking infrastructure, speeding up commutes across Chicago's South Side, and provided road access to the former U.S. Steel site, now being redeveloped into a quantum computing hub 11 years later.
