CKL Engineers provided CEI services for the Mile Long Bridge, a critical piece of infrastructure on the Tri-State Tollway (I-294). Located between Willow Springs and Hodgekins, IL, the bridge carries traffic over two major railroads, three water resources, local roads, and a major distribution center for UPS and the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway. The $500 million Mile Long Bridge Project began in Summer 2019 and was completed in 2023.

CKL served as a Prime firm providing resident engineering and contract administration services for the full bridge replacement over I-88 Reagan Memorial Tollway. The new bridge required two 13-foot lanes of traffic and 5-foot shoulders on Deerpath Road. In addition, the previous four-span structure was replaced with a two-span bridge.

CKL is the lead firm providing Resident Engineering & Contract Administration services to remove existing signing, replace overhead and ground mounted signs, and provide Dynamic Message Board improvements.

CKL provided resident engineering & CEI services for a tollway maintenance vehicle access ramp with new retaining wall, lighting, drainage, concrete barrier wall, and underpass lighting.

CKL oversaw the widening of I-57, reconstruction of I-57 bridges over 147th Street, construction of the new CD Road Bridges over 149th, 147th and Dixie Highway, and the construction of CD Roads A and C.

CKL provided Phase II engineering services on I-294 from 95th St to LaGrange Road (Mile Post 17.8 to Mile Post 20.7). CKL revised drawings and developed plan sheets for bid packages. Other responsibilities included analyzing pavement marking and grading elevations for the work area, updating special provisions, grading to maintain proper drainage, shoulder improvement design, pavement marking removals and layout, and more.
